LKIF Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Seunghyun Kim, the artist’s 3rd show with the gallery.
Contiuously experimenting with the interest in correspondences between meaning of text and visual experience, the artist created his new body of works entitled ‘Composition, Spring 2022’.
In the exhibition, the artist presents 17 compositions of lines and dots. He borrowed the ‘conceptual score’ from Fluxus artists for this series. In each work, he invited one sentence as instruction, and carried out the instruction on the canvas using oil bar and sponge roller. This series shows the link between the text and images applied on the canvas, where his interpretation of text allows various compositions with different nuances.
Along with a set of variations by Kim in this exhibition, we wish the viewer to experience infinite associations triggered by lines ant dots.

전시명과 동일한 제목인 2022년 봄의 구성으로 기록된 일련의 작품들은 캔버스에 쓰여진 텍스트(지시문/ 플럭서스 아티스트들의 개념악보 conceptual score) 위로, 스폰지 롤러, 오일바 를 사용해 지시문의 내용을 수행한 연작이다.
김승현의 회화는 텍스트의 개념과 시각적 경험 사이의 연결성(관계)에 대한 관심에 뿌리를 두고 있다. 이번 전시를 위해 작가는 형태의 가장 기본적 요소인 점과 선을 캔버스 위에 구성하였으며, 점과 선, 그리고 지시문에 대한 작가의 해석적 변주는 17개의 캔버스에서 서로 다른 뉘앙스로 표현되었다.
