LKIF GALLERY is pleased to announce I Am Here Too, a solo exhibition by New York based artist, Sean Noonan. This is his first show with the gallery and his first in Seoul.
Sean Noonan (b. 1986) was born in Brooklyn and currently lives and works in Kingston, NY.
His work is about the outside world. He paints on materials often found nearby, such as old wood and found paper from his home or on the street, embracing the inherent history within the materials and evoking recollection.
The physical process of his paintings is driven by a response to textures, angles, curves, edges, and masses that develop through his initial interaction with the surface. He endeavours to keep his language of mark-making unfastened and free by summoning early crude forms to carry and direct weight, texture, feeling, and personalities that exist in our world.
The relationship between the artist, his work, and the viewer is much like a spoken dialogue. Half of the conversation is his memories, travels, and life experiences which are undeniably visible and elicit a response from the viewer.
