<On the road 1-4>

산책길에서 마주친 고양이와 새를 안고있고, 나무와 꽃을 손에 꼭 쥐고 있는 인물들은 차분히 관람자를 마주한다.
유아적 체형에 인형 같은 옷을 걸친 그림 속 인물들, 그리고 이들의 눈을통해 작가는 관객들에게 삶의 무게와 가치에 대한 질문을 환기시킨다.


<School Child>

작가의 작품 속 어린아이들은 동심이라는 모습으로 재현된 가장 되고자 하는 존재, 현실의 괴로움으로부터 해방된, 작가가 바라는 그리고 되고자 하는 이상향적 모습이다.


<My Mate, Wish>

작가가 2021년부터 선보인 My Mate 시리즈 아트토이 중 하나인 ‘Hope’ 의 초상화 작업으로, 강준석은 이 작업에 ‘My Mate, Wish’ 라는 제목을 붙였다.


<On the road>

A girl holds a cat in her arms, a boy protects a little bird with his hands, and others clutch plants in their hands.
They calmly meets the audiences with things they ran into while walking on the road.
Through their eyes, Kang is arousing a weighty question about our life and value in a beautiful and peaceful way.


<School Child>

The childlike figure in his painting is an object in which his desire to be an innocent child free from the pain of reality is reflected.


<My Mate, Wish>

This is the portrait of ‘Hope’ , one of his art toy series ‘my mate’, and its title is ‘My Mate, Wish’.

SEUNG HYUN KIM

김승현의 복합적 감각의 회화는 텍스트의 개념과 시각적 경험 사이의 연결성/관계에 대한 관심에 뿌리를 두고 있다. 작가는 그의 개념적 회화작품을 통해 색상과 언어가 캔버스 위에 어떻게 조합되느냐에 따라 만들어지는 의미와 맥락, 그에 따른 뉘앙스의 변화를 꾸준히 고민해 왔다. 어떤 색상들이 조합 되느냐에 따라 평면, 입체, 공간의 의미나 분위기가 정해지듯, 어떤 단어들이 조합 되는지에 따라 문장의 의미나 분위기가 정해진다.


<Born Series - Names calling the exhibition>

김승현은  ‘전시를 호출하는 이름들’ 이라는 새로운 본시리즈를 선보인다. 본 시리즈를 통해 보여주는 첫 번째 전시는 사치갤러리에서 열린 트라이엄프 오브 페인팅 (사치갤러리, 영국, 2005. 1. 26 ~ 7. 3)이다. 전시에 참여했던 피터 도이그, 마를린 뒤마, 요그 임멘도르프, 마틴 키펜버그, 헤르만 니치, 다니엘 리히터, 뤽 튀망 의 이름을 넣었다.


<Born Series - Judd>

도날드 저드가 스위스에서 모듈방식으로 조립되는 알루미늄 조각을 만들면서 그가 작업 노트에 남긴 색상조합과, 알루미늄 조각의 구성을 평면회화로 가져와 3개의 캔버스가 하나의 ‘born seriess - Judd’로 완성되었다.   


<Born Series - Richter>

이전의 본시리즈에서 작가는 게르하르 리히터의 컬러차트를 차용하여 동일 문장을 각각의 컬러웨이로 보여주었다.  이번 신작에서는 컬러웨이를 한 캔버스 위에 구성하는 변화를 주었다. 


Seung hyun Kim’s paintings are rooted in his interest on the relations between the concept of text and visual experience. Through his conceptual paintings, Kim lets us see how nuance and context changes depending on the way he combines colors and languages on a canvas. As how colors are combined determines the meaning and mood of a flat surface or three-dimensional space, the word combination becomes a key element determining the meaning and mood of a sentence.


<Born Series - Names calling the exhibition>

The artist started a new series titled ‘Names calling the exhibition’. The very first exhibition of this series is The Triumph of Painting at Saatchi Gallery (England, January 26-July 3, 2005). He composed his work using the names of Peter Doig, Marlene Dumas, Jorg Immendorff, Martin Kippenberg, Daniel Richter, and Luc Tuymans, who participated in the exhibition together.


<Born Series - Judd>
Kim presents a work titled ‘born series – Judd’ made of 3 canvases, on which he applied the combination of colors recorded in Donald Judd's work note when assembling aluminum modules in Switzerland.


<Born Series - Richter>
Though Kim presented identical sentences in each color-way using the color chart of Gerhard Richter in the previous born series, he tried to make a new variation to this series by composing color-way on one canvas.

YIRUI JIA

Yirui Jia는 희극적 위트와 불협화음, 역동적 붓질를 담은 표현주의가 한데 섞인 다이내믹한 장면들과 스토리를 연출한다.

이번 페어에서 선보이는 다섯 작품들에서 작가는 넷플릭스와 다이슨, 손톱 깎기, 조깅, 식사 등 스스로 경험하는 도회적 일상의 특징들을 재구성하였다. 그의 영화적 세계관 속에서 탄생한 그림 속 신부는 쿠엔틴 타란티노의 영화에서 영감을 받아 외눈 안대를 끼고 불타는 듯한 오렌지색 머리카락을 가지고 있으며, 전통적인 여성에 대한 스테레오 타입에 반항하는 모습을 보인다.

<Night, I, Phone> (2022) 의 주인공은 프레첼 자세를 한 채 넷플릭스를 시청하고, <Dyson Mermaid> (2022)의 주인공은 다이슨 청소기에 빨려 들어가기 직전이며, <Wild Kid> (2022) 의 어찌 보면 매우 건장한 외형의 주인공은 체리 무늬 원피스에 나막신을 신고 벚꽃 나무 아래를 달리고 있다.
<Do your own thing >(2022) 속 신부는 변기에 앉아 한 쪽 다리에는 큰부리새를 올린 채 발톱을 깎고 있으며, <Ketchup the Bride> (2022) 속 신부는 버거 번 사이에 끼어있다.


Yirui Jia’s five new paintings bring together not only a cacophony of vibrant imagery and stories, but, an unrivaled comedic wit and fiercely energized expressionism.

The fantastical world of Yirui’s creation, which draws upon and re-contextualizes the hallmarks of urban daily life —Netflix, Dyson, cutting nails, running in wild, dining — to present a blended whirl of life fragments, feature recurring characters that find themselves in all manner of environments, both realistic and otherworldly.

The protagonist in Yirui’s rather cinematic universe, a Quinten Tarantino-inspired bride with an eye patch and flaming orange hair, represents a wildly misbehaved version of classic female stereotype.

She is doing the pretzel pose while watching Netflix in <Night, I, Phone> (2022),  She is engulfed in a Dyson vacuum in <Dyson Mermaid> (2022), and runs as a fiercely titan bride with clogs and cherries fall on her dress under sakura in <Wild Kid> (2022).

In <Do your own thing >(2022), a bride sits on toilet with a toucan while cutting her nails. In <Ketchup the Bride> (2022), the bride is stuck in between a burger.
